Convergence of Weak Solutions from The Landau-De-Gennes Theory to The Ericksen-Leslie Theory

摘要:In this talk I will discuss the asymptotic connections between the Landau-de-Gennes theory and the Ericksen-Leslie theory for nematic liquid crystals. I will present the main results that the weak solutions to the Beris-Edwards equations converge to the ones to the Ericksen-Leslie equations in 2-dimension as the elastic coefficient tends to zero. The key point is that the limiting weak solutions to the Ericksen-Leslie system may have singularities. The main difficulties and ideas of analysis will be discussed. This is based on joint works with Dr. Xiaotao Zhang.
主讲人简介:辛周平,香港中文大学教授。辛周平教授长期从事流体力学偏微分方程理论研究,在双曲守恒律、高维激波、边界层理论、混合型方程、可压流体与不可压流体方程和松弛格式等领域做出了突出贡献。
